Soccer School Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will my child get spotted by St Mirren and become a St Mirren Football Club player?
The main focus on every St Mirren Soccer Schools course is that all children will be given an insight into how to play the St Mirren way and achieve success regardless of ability. St Mirren Soccer School Camps are not designed as a means to scout players, however, our aim is that each child will leave the course knowing how to become a better player and, most importantly, enjoyed their time as part of the camp.

2. Will my child's performance on the pitch be improved?
It is our aim for every child to gain success at their individual level and develop new skills on the programme. Our coaching team is specifically trained to pass on how St Mirren Football Club train their young players to become the best players they can.

3. What are the chances of meeting a player?
We always strive to have players visit our Soccer School Holiday Camps. However, due to busy training and match schedules this is not always possible.

4. My child is attending on his/her own; will he/she be ok?
Yes, the majority of players attend without friends and family. Individuals will be placed in groups with players of the same age but who are also on their own. The first session of every course is focused on making new friends. These "ice-breaker" sessions are designed to help all individual players integrate to form a team.

5. What qualifications and checks does your staff have?
All coaches are Scottish FA qualified and have been disclosure checked by Disclosure Scotland. St Mirren in the Community Soccer Schools is committed to the safety and welfare of all children attending our courses and has a Child Protection Policy in place.

6. What should my child bring with him/her ?
Suitable clothing for football including appropriate footwear (astro trainers / football boots) and shin pads. Warm and waterproof clothing in case of bad weather. Sun block and sun hat for seasonal camps. Full packed lunch with lots to drink (no fizzy drinks). Children will have regular breaks for drinks, snacks and lunch.
