Street Football

On Monday 20th April 2009, St Mirren in the Community launched it's "Street Football" programme.
The programme aims to give kids in local communities something to do on nights when they may be more inclined to be hanging around the streets.
St Mirren community coaches travel around Renfrewshire six nights a week, Mon-Sat between 6.00-10.00pm, taking with them three new state of the art mobile pitches.
The coaches deliver the programme in areas identified as youth disorder hotspots and so far positive results are being recorded in terms of reductions in youth disorder and vandalism rates.
Street Football is part of the Investing in Futures Initiative, run in partnership with Paisley Partnership Regeneration Company, Renfrewshire Council, Arriva, Ferguslie Sports Centre, Paisley YMCA, Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue, the Scottish Football Association as part of the Safer and Stronger Renfrewshire Partnership and is funded through the Scottish Government's Fairer Scotland Fund.
